Luce (Light)
Luce is a visual meditation on hope, resilience, and the human desire to emerge from darkness. Against a deep, shadowed background, an outstretched arm reaches upwards towards the light, evoking the image of someone rising from the depths towards the surface.
The gesture is both physical and symbolic. It speaks of the struggle to overcome fear, isolation, conflict, or despair, while affirming the enduring human instinct to seek freedom, dignity, and a better future. The open hand is not only reaching for the light—it is also open to others, suggesting trust, connection, and the possibility of renewal.
Through its minimalist composition, Luce reminds us that even in moments of profound uncertainty, hope remains a powerful force capable of guiding us towards life and humanity.
Giulio Martellotti is an Italian artist born in Rome in 1995. He completed the Second-Level Specialist Course in Decoration at the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome. His artistic practice explores symbolism, space, and the emotional relationship between light, the human body, and the environment, creating works that invite contemplation on the human condition.
The work symbolises the universal aspiration to move from fear towards safety, from darkness towards light, and from despair towards hope.
