Svitlana Dzedzei

Catch the Dream

Catch the Dream is a poetic reflection on memory, displacement, and the enduring hope of returning home. The painting portrays a young girl running through the clouds alongside a flock of birds, symbolising freedom, resilience, and the longing to leave hardship behind.

Inspired by Svitlana's own experience of living away from her homeland, the work recalls childhood summers filled with the sound of swifts and swallows flying over the courtyards of her hometown. Though those familiar sounds are no longer part of her daily life, they remain deeply rooted in her memory, becoming a powerful symbol of belonging and home.

Created during a moment of emotional vulnerability, Catch the Dream expresses a universal longing for peace, freedom, and the places that shape our identity. It reminds us that home is not only a physical place, but also a landscape carried in memory, hope, and the heart.

Svitlana Dzedzei is a Ukrainian artist whose work explores memory, identity, nature, and the emotional experience of displacement. Drawing inspiration from personal experiences and the landscapes of her homeland, she creates paintings that celebrate resilience, hope, and the enduring connection between people and place.

Through expressive imagery and symbolism, Svitlana transforms personal memories into universal stories, inviting viewers to reflect on belonging, loss, and the strength found in dreaming of a peaceful future.

Svitlana's painting reminds us that the longing for home is deeply human. It celebrates the freedom to dream, the resilience to endure separation, and the hope that one day memories can once again become lived experiences.
